Dr. Mark Mofid, Innovation in Buttock Augmentation

Dr. Mark Mofid, a Harvard graduate who trained at Johns Hopkins in aesthetic surgery, has pioneered an innovative gluteal augmentation procedure through meticulous research. Dr. Mark Mofid demonstrates his outside-the-box way of thinking through his surgical skill and proclivity. Implants, fat, or different materials are the primary substances in Gluteal augmentation. Dr. Mofied’s very conservative yet confident approach to implants places a moderate amount of intramuscular implants without going overboard regardless of the patient’s push for more substantial enlargement.

Dr. Mofid believes that Larger implants increase the risk for complications; consequently, he doesn’t implant anything more significant than 330 cc and doesn’t insert anything subfascial. Dr. Mofid realizes that fat grafting is a more straightforward surgery with less recovery time; nevertheless, he is aware of the limitation of augmenting with fat alone.

Dr. Mark Mofid was quite displeased with the available implants which he had to carve each one down before surgery. To solve the problem, he designed a Low Profile Round Gluteal Implant for Implantech. His new design a more proportional shape that made it easier to position in intramuscular tissues. Dr. Raul Gonzalez, a renowned plastic surgeon in Brazil who performed buttock surgeries since 1984, trained Dr. Mark Mofid in butt augmentation techniques. When well done, Dr. Mark Mofid believes that buttocks implants have excellent results. In America, the well-trained surgeons who can perform buttock implants are on the rise; however, the number of US surgeons do not compare to those in Brazil.

Dr. Mofid believes that the changes in current technique will boost the surgery’s reputation. Dr. Mark Mofid conducted a study of all Playboy magazine centerfolds from 1953 onward and found the waist-to-hip ratio is 0.68, regardless of body mass indexes. He considers this analytic approach while performing all his procedures. Dr. Mark Mofid considers all angles and thinks differently about breast reconstruction techniques and the rapid evolution of revisionary breast surgery than the products to support them.

Dr. Mofid developed training videos to demonstrate the new Seri scaffold procedure, a “bioinductive” meshes that replace the scaffold with fascia-like strength tissues. This type of innovation in plastic surgery has earned him the respect and trust of his colleagues in the industry.
